How to configure ABR for live streams
Updated over 3 years ago

Videolinq's Premium and Enterprise+ subscription plans support Adaptive Bitrate (ABR) streaming. ABR offers viewers different resolutions and bitrate streaming based on their device and network connectivity. To enable ABR do the following:

Step 1:

Configure the source stream (RTMP encoder, live stream pull, MP4 files) like this -

Resolution: 1920x1080

Frames per second: 30

Video codec: H.264 Main

Video bitrate: 5 - 6 Mbps

Rate control: CBR

Audio codec: AAC

Audio bitrate: 128 Kbps

Keyframe: every 2 seconds

Step 2:

Login to the Videolinq dashboard, open the channel, start the video source.

Step 3:

Click on the Player tab, and enable Adaptive Bitrate (ABR).

Step 4:

Push "Go Live". Video will appear in the preview player.

Step 5:

Expand the Settings option to confirm ABR is present in the stream.

Important: When live streaming with ABR enabled, target destinations get the 1080p version of the transcoded video.
